The Pearl and Other Poems is a collection of poetry about love, separation, mortality, divinity, and humanity. The Pearl and Other Poems takes you through a journey of magic in words, but the real magic lies in deep thoughts that find expression in just the right phrases.

The Pearl And Other Poems Vaidehi 9780692821664 Books Reviews
Loved the musings on different topics – be it the Shore Temple, Suburbia, Waiting, College bound or Starbucks …
Looking forward to other works by the Author...
Words well chosen that convey the essence of the poems. Simple enough to remember and quote yet carry a deep meaning. Varied topics covered. The Pearl is an outstanding poem, a story told beautifully.
Good read .... a good buy...
This is a beautiful collection of poems which takes you on a journey from the heart of India to American suburbia. This collection covers themes that are relatable to all of us...love, mortality, memories and anticipation. Indeed this collection reminds us that like music and art, poetry comes from the individual and spreads out into the collective whole to make us realize that our interconnections are many and our differences are few.
This is a fantastic book of poetry. When i first got a copy of this book, i never thought i would enjoy it as much as i am enjoying reading it right now. Some poets are hard to understand and some are even boring. The Pearl and Other Poems is not only brilliantly written, it is beautiful and thought provoking. It brings out different emotions. When i read the poem "Homeless" i know how wrong i have been in my judgement of the homeless. "The Indian date" and "Starbucks" made me laugh out loud. The Pearl, Love For Granted, Mother, College Bound are some of my favorites. I will reread them every now and then. Looking forward to more works from the author
This is a pearl of a book. An astute observation of day-to-day human drama is combined with a nuanced interpretation of its underpinnings to yield a treasure trove of arresting poems. The poems are a reminder of the multilayered texture of our connectivity to the world around us and they softly nudge us to acknowledge its inherent richness. We are left with no choice (thankfully) but to step away from a glib uni-dimensionality in our sensemaking of relationships, interactions, places and others, and become aware, even if momentarily, of our being located in a multifaceted fluidity with a hint of hidden mystery. This is especially so when the reader is confronted with seemingly contrasting emotions, contradictory feelings, and competing sentiments - there is always a story and history behind ordinary rituals. I should note that such a microscopic grasp of the grammars of the human heart and mind is only possible when one pauses long enough in life to look back and look around and ask the "what if's", "if only's", and "I wonder's". I think this poet has done so and this book is a gift born from such a reflective sojourn. Read it and let it percolate in your consciousness!
As the author notes, random thoughts on life's travails. Likely to make you pause a bit and introspect. Great read!
